ZAJEDNIČKA REALNOST: POPLAVE

UKRATKO

A SHARED REALITY: FLOODS

SUMMARY

"Heavy metals from the tailings of the closed coal mine “Stolice” in Kostajnik near Krupanj, causing concentrated contamination in mud and water, reached the river Jadar near Loznica. Experts warn that these hazardous substances could spill into the Drina and Sava rivers. The soil has turned grey, along with orchards and vegetable gardens. Along the river and in the river itself plants and animals have disappeared. From the amount of contaminants that the Jadar is now carrying, the water is now designated “Grade 5.” There is no greater pollution than Grade 5, which means that the pollution has reached the Drina."
