Institut Aspen u Njemačkoj, uz podršku njemačkog Ministarstva vanjskih poslova, bio je domaćin zatvorene konferencije o “Ekonomskom razvoju na zapadnom Balkanu: Na putu prema konkurentnoj tržišnoj ekonomiji?”, održanoj u Gut Klostermühle, Alt Madlitz. Donositelji odluka na visokom nivou i stručnjaci iz zemalja Zapadnog Balkana, Njemačke, SAD i EU sastali su se da razmotre sadašnju ekonomsku situaciju i potencijalne kratkoročne i srednjoročne mjere za ekonomski razvoj u zemljama regiona.
Detaljno se razgovaralo o pitanjima strukturalnih reformi i njihovoj implementaciji, regionalnoj ekonomskoj saradnji, razvoju infrastruktrure, obezbjeđenju energije i ekonomskim instrumentima EU za proces proširenja. Od posebnog interesa bila su pitanja o niskom ekonomskom rastu i visokoj stopi nezaposlenosti u zemljama regiona. Potencijalna rješenja za ove probleme, kao i uloga EU i njenog proširenja bili su u središtu debate.
The Aspen Institute Germany with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office hosted a closed-door conference on “Economic Development in the Western Balkans: On the Road to Competitive Market Economies?“ in Gut Klostermühle, Alt Madlitz. High-level decision-makers and experts from the countries of the Western Balkans, Germany, the U.S., and the EU convened to discuss the current economic situation and potential short- and mid-term measures for economic development in the countries of the region.
Questions of structural reforms and their implementation, regional economic cooperation, infrastructure development, energy security, and the EU’s economic instruments in the enlargement process were elaborated on. Issues of particular concern were the low economic growth and high unemployment in the countries of the region. Potential solutions to these problems, as well as the role of the EU and its enlargement were at the center of debates.
